The Lord Is Near to the Brokenhearted — Psalm 34:18

There are times in our lives when our hearts are filled with sadness, disappointment, loneliness, pain, or fear. At times, we may seem happy on the outside, but we are hurting deeply within. It may make us think, "Where is God when I am hurt? Does God see my tears?"

It is stated in the comforting assurance of Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted."

The presence of God is not lost on us during hard times in our lives. The Bible tells us that God is particularly close to those who are hurting. When no one else can understand what we are going through, God understands. When we find ourselves at a loss for words, God understands us.

God Is Near When Your Heart Is Broken

Although a broken heart makes us feel lonely, it does not mean that God has left us. It does not mean that His presence will be easily noticeable. His promise remains the same nonetheless.

No matter whether you are feeling disappointed, grieved, rejected, failed, or uncertain, keep in mind that God is with you in your difficulty. It may be impossible for you to understand why a particular thing happened, but you know for sure that the One who knows all your future is right there with you.

God promises that He will be there with us during our trials and tribulations. His presence gives us strength when all our strength is drained away from us.

God Heals the Brokenhearted

The process of healing of a broken heart may take some time, sometimes it takes a long time. However, you do not have to walk this journey alone.

Speak to God through prayers about your pain. Share with Him honestly how you feel. You do not have to say anything fancy; it is enough just to say, "Lord, I am hurting. Strengthen me."

God can give us peace amid our troubles, hope in times of despondency, and strength when we feel weak. Through His Word, prayer, caring people, and time, He helps us heal and move forward.

Never Lose Hope

Should you be reading these words while you are experiencing a difficult period in your life, then please keep this thought in mind: whatever is happening now is not the end of your story.

There might be tears now, but God can take you through them into a better time. There might be unanswered questions, but you can trust God. There might be weak moments, but God's grace can sustain you.

Psalm 34:18 is not just a Bible verse; it is God's promise of His love and His presence.

Therefore, dear friends, never lose hope. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Walk with God, no matter how difficult the path ahead is.

The Lord is near to you. He sees your tears, understands your pain, and cares about your heart.

Heavenly Father,
