A TRUE FRIEND NAMED JESUS
In today’s world, people search for
friendship in many places. Some seek happiness in worldly pleasures, while
others depend on material possessions, fame, or even intoxicating substances to
fill the emptiness in their hearts. However, all these things are temporary and
often leave us feeling lonely and disappointed. Amidst the changing seasons of
life, there is one friend who remains constant, faithful, and loving
forever—His name is Jesus Christ.
A true friend is someone who stands beside us during times of joy
and sorrow, someone who understands our weaknesses and still chooses to love
us. Jesus is that perfect friend. The Bible reminds us in John 15:13, “Greater
love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Jesus
demonstrated the greatest act of friendship by sacrificing His life on the
cross for the salvation of humanity. His love is unconditional and everlasting.
Unlike worldly friendships, which may fade with time or
circumstances, Jesus never abandons those who trust in Him. He listens to our
prayers, comforts us in our troubles, and guides us through life’s challenges.
When we feel broken, anxious, or burdened, He invites us to come to Him and
find rest. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus says, “Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Today, many young people are tempted to find comfort in alcohol,
drugs, and other intoxicating substances. Some believe that these things will
help them escape their problems or make them happier. Others place all their
trust in wealth, social status, and worldly pleasures. Yet these things cannot
provide lasting peace. They may offer temporary satisfaction, but they can
never heal the soul or bring true joy.
Therefore, let us choose wisely whom we call our friend. Instead of
becoming attached to worldly possessions or harmful habits, let us build a
relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the friend who never betrays, never lies,
and never leaves us alone. He offers forgiveness when we fail, strength when we
are weak, and hope when we lose our way.
Friendship with Jesus is not merely about attending church or
reading the Bible occasionally; it is about inviting Him into our daily lives.
It means trusting Him, speaking with Him in prayer, and following His
teachings. The more we walk with Jesus, the more we experience His love, grace,
and peace.
Let us invite everyone—young and old alike—to discover the joy of
having Jesus as their truest friend. Instead of making worldly things, money,
or intoxicating substances our companions, let us make Jesus Christ the center
of our lives. His friendship brings eternal happiness and leads us toward a
life filled with purpose and hope.
May we always remember that earthly things will pass away, but the
love of Jesus remains forever. Choose Jesus today, for there is no friend
greater, kinder, or more faithful than Him.
